Kelly is a highly motivated and experienced paediatric physiotherapist with a strong passion for early intervention. Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of physiotherapy from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 and a master’s degree in advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy Practices in 2022. She worked for a short time within a tertiary hospital setting before moving into the disability and community sector where her passion for working with children grew exponentially. Kelly has gained extensive experience with NDIS as a Senior Early Childhood Practitioner and Specialist Support Coordinator.
Kelly has strong skills in the assessment, identification, and treatment of children with neurodevelopmental and movement difficulties. Being a strong believer that play is a child’s language and that toys are their words, her hands on skills are often mixed with a big dash of fun, creativity, and playfulness.
Kelly loves sharing the excitement with each of her families when their child masters the skill they have been working so hard to achieve – this is her favourite part of the job! She enjoys collaborating with children, their families, other health professionals and teachers or educators to optimise the health, well-being, and abilities of each child to enable them to move and participate in everyday activities, like playing, learning, going to school, and being part of a family and community. Being in the position to empower families to support their children to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life brings her great joy.
Prior to physiotherapy, Kelly specialised in teaching acrobatics, balance, and contortion skills for 20+ years. This has allowed her to develop her skills in movement analysis and she has gained a strong understanding of how the body works, and how to adapt or modify activities to build strength and achieve success.
Kelly also has a special interest in working with adults with neurological injury and aims to provide a transdisciplinary approach, working collaboratively alongside the complex care team and with other key supports in an individual’s life.
Kelly has a continued passion to learn and upskill. She also has a certificate of training in the Cuevas Medek Exercise (CME) approach.
In her downtime, Kelly is a meditation and yoga enthusiast. She is a nature and animal lover, and you will never find her dog far from her side.
